Chicago Services

Our original location in the heart of Lakeview, one block south of Wrigley Field, has been consistently rated as one of the top 20 spas in the Chicago area. At Reflexion Spa in Lakeview, we offer all the latest and most popular traditional and evidence-based forms of massage and skin treatments.

Tui Na Massage (reflexive acupressure)

Tui Na, or Chinese deep tissue massage, is an integral part of traditional Chinese medicine. According to traditional Chinese medicine, injury or disease leads to blockages in the channels of the body, which cause pain. Tui Na employs a variety of techniques such as such as kneading, chopping, hacking, perpendicular pressure, and rolling fist to remove tension in the muscles and remove blockages of chi in the channels. Tui Na is helpful for removal of stress, sports injuries, headaches, insomnia, back pain, arthritis, sprains and bruises, repetitive stress injuries, and improved circulation.

Traditional Swedish Massage

Swedish massage, another form of deep tissue massage, is one of the most well-known western massage techniques, which employs long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart, along with other distinctive techniques. Like other forms of deep tissue massage, Swedish massage has been shown to reduce cortisol levels and increase white blood cell counts.

Hybrid Therapy (bamboo, hot/cold stone, wraps, stretch)

Bamboo massage is an innovative form of deep tissue massage which uses heated bamboo to roll and knead tissue to create a deep level of muscular relaxation. Hot and cold stones can be used during massage to help relieve pain and tension caused by stress, postural problems, and injuries. Body wraps are primarily skin treatments, in which the patient’s skin is first cleansed and then exfoliated, and then covered in a layer of body mask such as seaweed, algae, clay, mud or lotion, in order to aid in detoxification.

Cranial / Neck Massage

Cranial therapy addresses the bones and muscles of the scalp and neck, and has been shown to be helpful for patients who suffer from migraines, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), and stress from chronic injuries.

Hand or Foot Reflexology

In traditional Chinese, as well as Japanese and Egyptian medicine, the reflex areas of the hands and feet are understood to mirror a reflection of the entire body and its systems. Hand and foot reflexology, a technique of applying pressure to these areas, has been shown to be helpful as a complementary therapy in the treatment of migraines, diabetes, cancer, inflammation, liver disease, heart disease, skin conditions, and many other ailments.

Glass Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of treatment common to traditional Chinese, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern medicine. Suction is applied using cups of glass or similar material, at specific points to relieve the stagnation of chi and blood, both locally and in the organs activated by the point. Cupping is recommended for all types of respiratory diseases, digestive diseases, pain syndromes, and gynecological disorders.

Cosmetic Facial acupuncture, or acupuncture for facial rejuvenation, is a centuries-old technique that not only improves your physical appearance, but also enhances your health and beauty from within. The procedure hasbeen used for centuries inChina by Emperors and the wealthy.Cosmetic acupunctureis gaining popularity in the United States for many reasons, many of which are attributed to Westerners paying greater attention to what they put on, and in their body. Typically after a series of treatments clients experience a more youthful appearance with no downtime, no anesthesia, no harmful chemicals or toxins injected and no going under the knife.

This form of therapy is a natural alternative to conventional cosmetic procedures such as Botox and plastic surgery.Cosmetic acupuncture needles create stimulation to areas of facial tissue by increasing the circulation of blood flow to the wrinkles and thus producing more collagen production, resulting in less wrinkle formation. Additionally, these results are achieved at a fraction of the cost of cosmetic surgery.

To enhance the overall effects of cosmetic acupuncture, we recommend the use of Chinese herbal pills as natural supplement in conjunction with cosmetic acupuncture sessions. The purpose of the combined approaches is topromote the circulation of Qi and Blood to both the facial skin and your body which is the foundation of everything.

In general, patients tend to see noticeable changes after the 5th or 6th session. However, many patients notice benefits after just 3 or 4 sessions.A full course of treatment of 10 - 15 sessions, combined with herbal supplements is recommended to ensure a positive and lasting effects.
